Destination Description

Appropriately named "The Gathering Place," Oahu is the exciting center of the Aloha state. Famous Waikiki Beach, the heart of the island and a world class resort area, offers outstanding dining, entertainment, shopping, attractions and hotel accommodations to fit any budget. Down the shore from Waikiki Beach is one of the most recognizable landmarks in Hawaii, Diamond Head. This extinct volcano crater sits solemnly above another fabulous beach filled with sun worshippers and surfers. Beyond Waikiki, Oahu becomes a quietly enchanting island. There are 23 state parks on the ocean and throughout the interior. On the North Shore, the ocean's fury comes to life as massive waves pound the shore in an unforgettable rhythm. History buffs can trace the million year history of the islands on Oahu, or experience more recent history at Pearl Harbor. Activities and attractions on Ouhu Pearl Harbor is a must.  Sights include the Arizona memorial and the Battleship Missiouri (the location where Japan surrendered during World War II) Waikiki Beach - A very developed area surrounded by high rise hotels, but the beach is one of Hawaii's best. The Polynesian Cultural center - learn the rich culture and history of Hawaii and the Polynesian people Diamond Head -the dormant volcano landmark located at the top of Waikiki Beach.  You can climb to the top to view the crater and the spectacular views of Waikiki. Shopping - being the most developed island, Ouhu has the most extensive shopping and nightlife options North Coast - Most people mistakenly don;t rent a car in Ouhu.  I recommend renting one for a day and exploring the beautiful interior and North Coast of Ouhu.  The North Coast is famous for it's fantastic surfing beaches. Sea Life Park - An aquatic wonderland with sea life of all varieties.  The highlight of the park is the oppotunity to swim with dolphins (additional fee)
