Secluded in a lush tropical paradise that faces a pristine beach with blue waters stretching to the horizon, Dreams Punta Cana Resort & Spa offers a picturesque view from almost every guest accommodation. This opulent resort offers Unlimited-Luxury beginning with a free form swimming pool that winds its way from the lobby down to the beach and is complete with waterfalls, a swim-up bar and venues throughout. A wide choice of a la carte themed restaurants, chic bars and live nightly shows complement the vast array of daily activities from kayaking and snorkeling to unwinding at the lavish spa. The Explorer's Club for kids, a fully supervised children's program for ages 3-12, features weekly campout adventures, sand castle competitions, a rock climbing wall and a pirate ship waterslide.
For the romantics, the stunning wedding gazebo is the perfect place to say "I do". Lose yourself in a new and better way to have it all at Dreams Punta Cana Resort & Spa.
Dreams is the family brand of AM Resorts which specializes in destination weddings and vacations for the whole family. The resort was built in 2004 and renovated in 2007. The main complaint about this resort was the size of the rooms. Conveniently, there were no regular rooms available for me to tour, but the suites were available and very nice. There are 620 rooms and suites with view, size, and amenities being the difference. None of the suites offer an ocean view and the honeymoon suites have a two person Jacuzzi on the balcony. The resort has several different areas set aside for kids of all ages. The Core Zone is designed for teens and offers a mechanical bull, batting cages, shooting range, pool and foos ball tables, Euro bungee, WII and Xbox, rock climbing wall, snack bar, and teen disco. This is a great new addition for the resort! For younger children, the Explorer club offers fully supervised activities for children 3-12 years old (open 9AM to 9PM). Activities include a kiddie pirate themed water park, arts and crafts, video games, and more. There is a third area called the kids zone which offers toys, kiddie pools, and slides designed for parent supervised activities.
The resort offers free weddings* and clients receive the Dreams Eternity honeymoon package (a $800 value) if they book 7 nights in a Preferred Club Honeymoon suite or higher. The resort offers all of the trademark AM Resorts features like American Beer (Budweiser), 24 hour room service, fully stocked minibar, premium brand liquors, no wristbands, and no reservations at any of the restaurants. The resort was very active and loud music was being played at the pool. There was a lively volleyball game at the beach. The main benefits to the Preferred club include free WIFI, access to the club (with computers, food presentations, and super premium liquors), hard liquor in your room, and a private beach area with waitresses and upgraded chairs. The resort has 7 restaurants offering the following cuisine: Asian (with sushi and teppanaki), Buffet, Seafood, Grill, Italian, Mexican, and Steak house. The resort has a casino, large show room, an air conditioned gym and a spa with 10 cabins.
Overall, I like this resort for families with older children. Due to the resort being so large, it might be difficult for families with young children. The universal complaint is the size of the regular rooms. Also, the swim out rooms have 20 feet of grass between the patio and the pool.
