Full of details inspired by the Mayan culture, this hotel forms a complex with the neighboring Iberostar Paraiso Lindo. It features 24-hour all-inclusive service, and personalized Concierge service during the day. The hotel has a total of five pools, among them a lazy river and a unique wave pool. It also offers five bars/lounges, an ice cream parlor, a game room and a fitness center. Guests staying at this hotel can also enjoy the following services at an additional charge: use of conference rooms at the Convention Center, golf course, wedding arrangements, spa and beauty salon, babysitting, laundry service, internet and 24-hour medical service.
The Iberostar Paraiso complex is located 10 minutes north of Playa del Carmen about 40 minutes from the airport. There are 5 Iberostars located on the same complex with a large convention center, a PB Dye designed golf course, a shopping center, and a full service spa (30 treatment rooms). The lobby at the Paraiso Maya is very impressive with Mayan decor and a full sized replica of the pyramid of Chichen Itza. There is a disco open from 11PM- 3AM for adults and a teen disco open 1030PM to 1AM. The resort has a very nice beach with white sand, turquois water and walkable. The water seemed rough when I visited, but I was told it is normally calm. The pool area is amazing. It is huge, and it has a large wave pool (open 11AM-5PM). There is a fully supervised kids club, which is open 10AM-5PM for kids ages 4-12 years old (private babysitters available for $10 per hour for 1-2 kids). The Iberstar Paraiso Maya is parallel to the Paraiso Lindo and they share the same common areas (pool). The main difference between the two is a few dining options and that all of the rooms at the Maya are junior suites. The resort is very active and there were lots of people on the beach.
There are two room categories at the Iberostar Paraiso Maya. The two room categories are Run of House Jr. suite and superior Jr. suite. The only difference between the two is location. The superior Jr. suites are located in the two buildings closest to the beach. All of the rooms have 24 hour room service, DVD player, 2 person Jacuzzi in the bathroom, and a fully stocked minibar (beer, water, soft drinks) which is replenished every other day. The Iberostar Paraiso Maya has top shelf liquor and Mexican beer (Dos Equis XX and Corona).
The mystery of Iberostar dining is finally answered below. Iberostar Paraiso Maya has 5 restaurants: Seafood, Steakhouse, French, Tex-Mex, and Japanese teppanaki. Unlimited reservations are available at any resort. Reservations can be made in advance for the entire stay at the concierge located in every building.
Iberostar Paraiso Lindo has 5 restaurants: Italian, Oriental, Buffet, Gourmet (Intl), and Cajun. Unlimited reservations are included at any of the Lindo, Mar, and Beach resorts. Reservations can be made in advance for the entire stay at the concierge located in every building. Lindo guests may eat at the Seafood, steakhouse, and the Tex-Mex restaurant at the Maya, but not the Japanese teppanaki or the French.
Iberostar Paraiso Mar and Paraiso Beach have 9 restaurants between the two parallel resorts. Specialties include: Brazilian, Mediterranean, Mexican, Japanese Teppanaki, Steakhouse, Tropical, Gourmet (Intl), and 2 buffets. Guests of the Beach and Mar can make advance reservations in the lobby at guest services. There are restrictions on the number of reservations you receive. For a 7 night stay, you receive 3 reservations. For a 5-6 night stay, you receive 2 reservations. For a 3-4 night stay, you receive 1 reservation. The a la carte restaurants will accept you on a standby basis if they have availability.
The Iberostar Paraiso Maya is a fantastic family resort. The resort has an amazing pool area, very nice beach, great location, great restaurants and choices, and 24 hour room service.
