Before I get specific with the Bavaro, I’d like to decode the dining policy at the Iberostar complex. To begin with, there are four resorts at the complex: Punta Cana, Dominicana, Bavaro, and the Grand. The Grand is adults only and has 4 restaurants: Asian (with Teppanaki and sushi), surf and turf, Italian, and French. There are no dining restrictions and only guests at the Grand can eat at the Grand. Guests at the Grand can eat at any of the restaurants at the complex. The Bavaro is all Suites and has 5 a la carte restaurants: Asian (no Teppanaki), Mediterranean, Cajun, French, and Steakhouse. Guests at the Bavaro can eat at these restaurants as well as the restaurants at the Dominicana and Punta Cana. Guests of the Bavaro cannot eat at the Grand. Reservations are made at guest services in the lobby and can be made upon arrival for the entire stay. As for the two entry level Iberostars (Punta Cana and Dominicana), they share exchange privileges between themselves. There are meal restrictions at these resorts based on the length of stay. For stays of 7 nights, guests are guaranteed 3 a la carte reservations. For stays of 4-6 nights, guests are guaranteed 2 a la carte reservations. For stays of 3 nights or less, guests are guaranteed 1 a la carte reservation. All reservations are made at guest services in the lobby and can be made for the entire stay upon arrival at the resort. The cuisine at the Punta Cana and Dominicana resorts are: Asian with Sushi (no teppanaki), French, Mexican, International, and Steakhouse. In addition, there are two buffets as well.
Now that the dining is out of the way, let’s talk about the Bavaro. The Bavaro is on a gorgeous stretch of beach with a large active pool area with swim up pool bar. The Bavaro is an older resort that was renovated in 2007. The only room category at this resort is Jr. suite. There are 598 Jr. suites total situated bungalow style. There are 8 Jr. suites per bungalow. The resort caters to families and guests looking for a fun active vacation. The animation staff is very active and there was a beach barbeque and concert for lunch. I think the name Jr. suite is a little generous since I measured the room at about 450 square feet with basic decor. The room includes a fully stocked minibar and either 1 king or 2 double beds. There is a disco, shopping center and casino at the complex. Each resort has a show nightly.
Overall, I like the resort. The resort has a great pool and beach. Iberostars are known for their animation staff and wonderful entertainment. It would be a great choice for families or people looking for an active vacation.
